Seymour Vets was started in 2006 by Richard Mitchell, Huw Peplow and Matthew Gopal. It was previously known as Munnings, Mitchell and Peplow, which was established in the mid-eighties by Nicholas Munnings.
Having outgrown our previous premises at Seymour Cottage we moved to the Old Smugglers Inn in 2011. The newly renovated building has provided us with a bright, spacious, modern practice with the most up to date veterinary facilities. It has enabled us to further extend the services and products we offer.
In 2012 we achieved veterinary hospital status. This is a standard set by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons; it involves providing additional facilities and protocols beyond that of general practice in order to investigate and treat more complex cases. Regular inspections by the RCVS ensure we meet all Core standards and General Practice standards set out in the RCVS practice standard scheme in addition to the specific hospital standards.
As part of the veterinary hospital status we provide 24-hour on site veterinary care. This is provided by our own vets and nurses as we believe this offers clients an important continuity of care as well the highest standard of veterinary treatment.
The practice covers the South Hams, Torbay and South Devon region treating small animals such as cats, dogs and small furries.
We work with several tourist attractions, as well as a number of animal charities such as Cats Protection, The Dogs Trust, South Devon Cats Re-homing and the Blue Cross.
We aim to provide all our clients with a high quality, professional and friendly service, working very much as a team. We take pride in the service we offer, using the finest veterinary product ranges, and the best anaesthetics available.
As well as general veterinary practice, the surgery offers an orthopaedic referral service.
We are always happy to offer clients a tour of the practice. Come and visit us today, or contact us on 01803 866283 (Totnes) or 01803 522100 (Preston).
